World Athletics Championships Oregon22

Art Direction and Design

In the summer of 2022, Eugene, Oregon hosted the World Athletics Championships, a 10-day track and field event, including teams from 179 countries and selling over 146,000 tickets. While working for AHM Brands, I took over as Art Director for the World Athletics Championships Oregon 22, as the Associate Creative Director went on paternity leave. My role was to ensure the consistency of this brand across all applications while working with a team of project managers, designers and environmental graphic designers.

 

Developed by the Associate Creative Director, this logo was designed to include the World Athletics logo as a framework and incorporate a representation of Hayward Field, the home of track and field in Eugene, Oregon.

The Associate Creative Director also developed this graphic, representing the seven regions of Oregon and creating the basis for the rest of the program.

 

Marketing & Communications

The “Hello, World. Meet Oregon.” campaign was developed to encourage pride in Oregonians as they welcomed the world during this event and to showcase Oregon as a unique destination. For a portion of this campaign, we partnered with Travel Oregon to place billboards, airport signage, and region specific signage all over the state.

Part of the campaign included a tour through major Oregon destinations, hosted by the Oregon22 mascot and his custom van, creating excitement for the event and capturing all of Oregon’s glory.

 

Environmental Graphic Design

From the stadium to the back-of-house to VIP areas and beyond, coordinating, unifying and executing such a large scope, was no easy feat.

 

Signage & Wayfinding

For such a large scale event, signage and wayfinding was integral to the success of Oregon22. We strove to keep signage straightforward, while also carrying through our unified brand visuals.
